35 Years of community involvement

Toryglen Community Hall is a cultural hub, enriching the lives of individuals and surrounding communities, thus helping to improve their quality of life and health and well-being. The hall is a social hub for a variety of activities, tackling social isolation and fostering community cohesion.

Toryglen Community Hall was established as a charity in 1988, the original hall was then built for the community through the efforts and energies of the committed people of the local area in 1989.

Since then, Toryglen Community Hall has delivered a vast range of events and activities for the local community to engage with.

Community Investment

The Hall is more than just a place to be, it is also an organisation that is dedicated to community empowerment. Toryglen Community Hall works in partnership with local organisations, Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland to help tackle issues in the area. Recently we have been leading up a project with local schools to help young people become more involved in local decision making, helping to drive forward positive change to the area. We also run free events for the community, and free kid’s clubs during the holidays. We are always looking for new ways to support our community and help it prosper – get in touch with our Development Worker karina@toryglencommunityhall.org  if you would like to make a connection with the Hall or learn more about the work we do.

From Humble Beginnings

The area of Toryglen has undergone great change over the most recent decades seeing almost the complete removal of the existing population and the building of new housing. But through it all Toryglen Community Hall has served up activities and groups to support the efforts and encourage community building.

Toryglen Community Hall has been managed by a committee of dedicated individuals from the local community since it was established.

The changes which Toryglen has undergone in the last few years have brought many new people into the area. The hall is a community hub and we hope that more of these new members of the Toryglen Community will make use of the services on offer as well as using the hall for their own events.
